As the general election approaches there's a great opportunity for a new government to turn the tide on the needless deaths and serious injuries we see on our roads every day. We've signed up to the PACTS (Parliamentary Advisory Council on Transport Safety) manifesto for key changes that can be made to realise this, and are also keeping on at our candidates locally to support our key asks:

• 20 mph zones for all residential areas
• A national.ban on pavement parking
• 20% of highways spending allocated to decent quality walking and cycling infrastructure
• Longer bans for careless, inebriated and dangerous driving offences
• Lifetime bans for those who kill by dangerous driving

It's not too late to give your candidates a nudge in the right direction on this. Please find a template letter below which you can download and send to all those vying for your vote to remind them of the importance of these issues and the strength of feeling that exists around them. Happy voting!
